Guidelines for professional conduct and academic excellence

🎯 Our Commitment

This course is built on principles of mutual respect, academic integrity, and collaborative learning. These ethics guidelines ensure a productive and professional learning environment that prepares you for success in research and industry.

📋 Course Ethics Guidelines

🎥Class Conduct & Privacy

  • No Recording Policy: Recording, photographing, or livestreaming any portion of class sessions is strictly prohibited without prior written consent from the instructor.
  • Respect Privacy: Protect the privacy and dignity of all class participants during discussions and presentations.
  • Professional Behavior: Maintain respectful and professional conduct during all class interactions.

📚Intellectual Property & Materials

  • No Unauthorized Sharing: Course materials (including slides, handouts, recordings, and code) are for enrolled students only and may not be shared, distributed, or posted online without explicit permission.
  • Citation Required: When referencing course materials in your work, provide proper attribution to the course and instructor.
  • Respect Copyright: All course materials are protected by copyright and institutional policies.

🤝Academic Work & Collaboration

  • Individual Effort: All individual assignments must reflect your own original work and effort. Plagiarism and unauthorized collaboration are prohibited.
  • Meaningful Group Participation: Group projects require active, meaningful contribution from each member. Free-riding undermines the learning experience for all team members.
  • Honest Communication: Communicate openly about challenges, workload distribution, and any issues that may affect your contribution to group work.
  • Proper Attribution: Give credit to all sources, collaborators, and AI tools used in your work.

⚖️ Consequences for Policy Violations

The following progressive measures may be applied for ethics violations:

🟡 First Offense

Verbal warning and documentation in student file. Discussion of expectations and support resources.

🟠 Repeated Violations

Written warning and required meeting with instructor to develop improvement plan. Possible grade reduction on affected assignments.

🔴 Serious or Continued Violations

  • Removal from group projects with grade penalty
  • Reporting to Academic Affairs/Student Conduct office
  • Course grade reduction or failure, depending on severity
  • Formal disciplinary action through the university

⚠️ Special Note on Recording and Distribution

Violations involving unauthorized recording or distribution of course materials may result in immediate removal from class and formal disciplinary action through the university, as these actions may violate both academic policies and privacy laws.
